On 9 August 2018 William Wilson, Barrister –Director at Wyeside Consulting Ltd
gave an interview on the EU REACH chemicals Regulation and BREXIT to LNG-
MLEX.

The discussion covered the position of Registrations under REACH in the event
of a no deal Brexit.

It noted the Prime Minister’s speech of 2 March 2018 proposing continued
membership of the European Chemicals Agency ‘ECHA’, and the reply by
European Council President Donald Tusk on 7 March 2018.

It covered progress to date on the draft Withdrawal Agreement, and the draft
European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill, and future trade arrangements:
the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 and proposals by the UK government
for REACH implementing regulations in 2018, announced at the Chemicals
Stakeholder Forum on 18 July 2018.

Finally, it covered the contrasting statements by ECHA on the UK’s Withdrawal
from the EU, and the relevant provisions of the UK government White Paper of
July 2018, advocating a free trade area for goods and a common rulebook.
